Stellar multiplicity is ubiquitous in the universe and across the HR diagram. It is therefore a key property in many fields of astrophysics. The ESA mission Gaia will increase the number of known binary systems by order of magnitudes; complemented by large spectroscopic and photometric surveys, it will revolutionize this topic. This session aims at discussing the latest advances in this topic.
